Cashew Butter is simply Cashew mashed into a smooth paste, which makes an interesting alternative to peanut butter. When purchasing, ensure that no hydrogenated vegetable oil has been added, if it has then leave alone. Three quarters of the fat in Cashew Butter is good fat, made up of both poly and mono unsaturated fat. Cashews also provide a good source of zinc, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and vitamins B1 and B6. Additionally, Cashews are a good source of fiber, although not as high as Almonds.

As Cashew Nuts are high in good fats, phytochemicals and antioxidants, they protect against cardiovascular and heart diseases. Other Cashew Nut benefits include promoting healthy bone growth as a diet rich in magnesium stimulates a hormone called calcitonin, which increases the calcium levels in our bones.

If you have either kidney or gallbladder problems, you should not eat Cashews due to the presence of oxalates, which can crystallize and cause health issues.

Nut butters are an excellent alternative to real nuts if you suffer from digestive problems.

The calorie tables below show both salted and unsalted. You'll notice that both have exactly the same calorie content.
