Originating from a region in France called Brie, this cheese is made from either full fat or semi-skimmed milk. Similar in texture to Camembert, but with a higher fat content, it is not a great choice if you aim to lose weight. Brie has high saturated fat content, approx. 17g per 100g, but is very high in protein. It is also a good source of vitamins A, B1-B3, B5, B6 (folate), B12, D, K, calcium, phosphorus, potassium and selenium.

With its high calcium content, Brie is great for the health of your bones and teeth. Other Brie benefits are thought to include helping your body fight free radical attacks.

Cheese in general contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). Studies of CLA have shown that it helps with weight loss.
