Roquefort cheese is a blue/green veined white cheese, made from sheep’s milk. It can only be made in a specific region in France. The veins are from a bacteria, Penicillium Roqueforti, similar to other blue cheeses.

Roquefort is high in protein, but also high in fat and sodium, so should be avoided is on a weight loss diet and also if you daily salt intake is quite high from other foods. Maybe just crumble a little over a salad as a treat, as it is delicious. Roquefort also provides a good source of vitamins A, B1-B3, B5, B6, B12, calcium (twice as much as cheese from cow’s milk), phosphorus, potassium, and selenium.

It is great for health bones and teeth, given its high calcium content.
