The 7 Principles of Fat Burning by Eric Berg will show you what the accelerated fat burning principles are and how to activate your fat burning hormones to lose weight and enjoy a healthy life. Dr Berg graduated and trained at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and as a Chiropractor at the Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa in the US. Today, he’s a director of a medical practice in Virginia. The book was first published in 2006.




Dr Berg believes there is no point in telling someone to diet and simply providing them with a meal plan. He believes in ensuring the person understands how weight loss occurs and what the triggers are. He wants you to learn what has caused the weight gain in the first place. This book is targeting those who find it hard to lose weight, i.e. you diet and not much happens!

Dr Berg will teach you about the three fat inducing hormones, and the six hormones that actually burn fat, and how to fire up those fat burning hormones.

You will need to take a simple quiz to determine which of the four body types you have. That will then drive the meal plan to suit you.

The diet starts with a liver cleanse, as Dr Berg believes the liver drives the fat burning process. The first phase lasts for two weeks. You’ll be eating lots of fruit and vegetables.

The second phase sees a gradual increase in protein until you reach your target weight goal. Dr Berg stresses this is not a diet that comes to an end, so you cannot revert back to what you used to eat.

Your weight loss will on average be made up of water (two to five pounds per day) and fat (two pounds per week), Dr Berg claims, and will result in improved cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, more energy, improved digestion and better sleep. The book will teach you to eat real nutrient dense food, not what he calls non-foods, i.e. foods that are man-made and contain little to no vitamins and minerals.

You will learn what each of the seven fat burning principles are, how hormones affect your body shape, what your body type is and its associated meal and exercise plan, and what the ten triggers are for fat burning.

However, most importantly though, the book includes a recipe for cheesecake, that’s low in carbohydrates.
