Although not very well known in some parts of the world, it’s considered the "king of fruits" across Asia and has a very interesting history. It’s large, up to 12 inches (30cm) long and 6 inches (15cm) wide, and the fruit is contained inside its husk. It has a strong odor and is very popular in a lot of Asian dishes.
The fruit contains vitamin C, potassium and amino acids, as well as carbohydrates and protein. It does contain a lot of sugar, and is considered high in the GI index. One of the Durian benefits is said to increase fertility as it is believed to have aphrodisiac qualities.
