Easy 1200 Calorie Diet - Day 5

Welcome to Day 5 of our easy 1200 calorie diet. If you want to do more than simply follow our example of a 1200 calorie diet menu you will need to find out the calorie content of foods and how to count calories.

To make sure your calorie intake for weight loss does not exceed 1200 calories per day, you will need to refer to either books, online resources such as our food calories list, or use of an electronic calorie calculator.

Recommended Foods and Exercise for a 1200 Calorie Menu - Include fresh and unprocessed foods which are in the low glycemic index into your 1200 calorie diet menu to stop craving food and lose weight without hunger. Foods with a low GI keep you fuller for longer.

You may substitute other foods of the same nutritional value for the foods listed. For example: an apple can be substituted for an orange or 1 oz. chicken for 1 oz. of beef, etc. Also you can include as many caffeine and calorie free beverages as you want. Limit caffeine intake to 2 cups of coffee or tea per day. Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.

The importance of daily exercise for quick weight loss and good health are well known. However, the 1200 calorie meal plans are not for physically active people, because the calories and nutritional intake is too low to sustain high levels of physical activity. Morning Snack :

1 large pear – 230 grams - 133 kcal
Total: 133 kcal




Lunch :

2 oz. turkey breast or lean ham – 56 grams – 58.2 kcal
½ large whole grain pitta bread – 32 grams – 85 kcal
2 sliced carrots small (5-1/2" long) – 100 grams – 41 kcal
1 cup of skim milk - 245 grams – 85 kcal
Total: 269.2 kcal

Afternoon Snack :

1 peach large (2-3/4" dia) – 175 grams – 68.3 kcal
Total: 68.3 kcal

Dinner :

2 slices of Cheese Only Pizza, 2 of 8 slices, 12" medium (159g) – 374 kcal
1 large mixed green salad – double portion of salad from day1 – 73.4 kcal
1 tbsp of fat free salad dressing - 14 grams – 6.6 kcal
Total: 454.0 kcal


Total: 1200 kcal
